The Nederlandse Taalunie (Union for the Dutch Language) offers a number of facilities to teachers abroad, such as information, advice and documentation. It also organises training courses that aid the professional development of teachers of Dutch.
Courses for teachers
Improving the professionalism of teachers of Dutch outside the Dutch-language area is one of the priorities of the Taalunie. To ensure the quality, status and the independence of the Dutch programmes at universities abroad, it is important that teachers be given the opportunity to attend training courses in order to improve their educational skills.
The Taalunie has set up a series of courses especially for foreign teachers of Dutch. Teachers can apply for these courses regardless of their native language. The courses are held within the Dutch-language area. The themes of these courses are extremely varied and include language acquisition, working with authentic materials, didactics, modern literature, testing and exams, and skills.
You can find more information about these courses on the pages in Dutch.
