Why visiting lecturers?
The Union for the Dutch Language is seeking to improve contact between Dutch studies inside and outside the Dutch-language area. Improved contact between the two groups helps to strengthen the position of the Dutch language and to enhance subject knowledge. The system of visiting lecturers enables foreign departments to attract additional expertise on a temporary basis.
These visiting lecturers may come from the Netherlands, Flanders and Suriname, or from other countries if they have specialist expertise. Departments can fund a visiting lecturer using the basic grant. In addition, the Union for the Dutch Language would like to encourage departments of Dutch to invite visiting lecturers. While regional networks may invite these lecturers, an official academic network should preferably be made responsible for coordinating.
A visiting lecturer gives lectures at several departments of Dutch in one country or in the respective language area (region).
The funding in this arrangement can be used to contribute toward the participants’ travel and accommodation expenses and the visiting lecturers’ fees.
Applications must be submitted before 1 December, prior to the next budget year. Application forms have to be completed in Dutch. Forms in other languages will not be accepted. For more information, please have a look at the original text in Dutch.
