Workshops on literary translation

An on-location workshop on literary translation is a form of education through which students who have recently finished their studies of Dutch language and literature can become acquainted with literary translation from Dutch into another language.

These workshops, which can be organised anywhere around the world, aim to motivate new, promising translators to pursue a career as professional literary translators.

Workshops such as these can be arranged by departments of Dutch outside the Netherlands and Flanders. Every combination of languages is possible. Universities outside the Dutch-language area where Dutch is taught as a subject can apply for a subsidy at the ELV in order to organise a workshop.

Until now, successful on-location literary workshops have been organised in countries including the United Kingdom, Italy, Hungary, France, Poland, Portugal, Germany, Argentina and Spain.
