Dutch is spoken in many parts of Belgium's French-speaking community, in northern France and in the German border region, and it is also offered as a subject at primary and secondary schools and in adult education.
The Nederlandse Taalunie (Union for the Dutch Language) provides funding for such classes in cooperation with local authorities.
For whom?
If you are a teacher at an institution for primary or secondary education, or if you are a member of a regional government in these regions, then you can apply for a Taalunie grant for projects and activities. These projects or activities should aim to improve and support Dutch teaching within the regular curriculum of the institution in the neighbouring country or countries.
What can the grant be used for?
You can use our financial support to organise workshops on a certain theme, for further training courses or refresher courses, learning and teaching materials, working or scientific conferences, to cover the expenses of guest speakers or as a start-up grant for initial curricula.
